The Manager of Information Technology Operations is currently seeking a Meditech System Administrator. The Meditech System Administrator is responsible for the implementation, administration, support, maintenance and continuous improvement of MEDITECH Electronic Health Record system, including identifying, planning, implementing and supporting information system solutions to its customers which may include patients, management, administration, physicians and other business partners. Primary functions include (but are not limited to) support and enhancement of the technical components of the MEDITECH EMR, and other clinical and non-clinical systems.
Provide support for new initiatives and maintaining systems to enhance patient care, increase operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance; review, evaluate and address complex user needs; perform feasibility and capacity studies and provide recommendations for upgrades and improvements; assist in the evaluation and selection of infrastructure equipment and applications; conduct research on emerging products, services, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts; lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server environment; documents the application recovery requirements and tests on an iterative basis to recommend and implement process improvements
Work closely with customers including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, technologists, office and hospital information technology staff; field incoming problem tickets from end users to resolve application issues within supported applications and databases; maintains, prioritizes, communicates status, and completes customer requests
Mentor and provide assistance and direction to staff members within the Information Technology Department in support of hospital users for optimizing application systems’ utilization; coordinate and collaborate with network staff, software analysts, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of business applications meet business demands
Plan, design, prepare and implement/ install new server environments, applications and infrastructure; Coordinate and oversee system upgrades including MEDITECH DTS; Administration and setup of MEDITECH users; Administration, setup and maintenance of MEDITECH Printing; Design, establish, maintain and test Business Continuality & Disaster Recovery procedures and plans
Coordinate with vendors, end users and third-party support regarding application updates, installations or replacements
Documents business requirements, application functional specifications and maps business requirements to technical specifications to ensure all requirements are being met
Follow change control, incident response, and testing processes, perform installation of application service packs, patches, hot fixes, upgrades, & new features etc.; coordinate and document user testing, and obtain approval signoff
Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use and policies and procedures related to data and network operations to ensure appropriate use, data integrity & security
VMware Certified Professional and ITIL Foundation Certification considered an asset
Diploma/Degree in Information Technology preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience with MEDITECH system administration; administering and supporting clinical/non-clinical technical applications in a medium to large healthcare environment
Recent and related experience with common standard server operating systems including Windows Server 2008/2012 and monitoring tools including Nagios/Solarwinds
Demonstrated experience with server administration, virtual infrastructure technology and methodology; planning for growth & business continuity and disaster recovery; and implementing and maintaining server infrastructure
Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
Demonstrated analytical, planning and organizational skills
Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
